• Nation'sPort achieved its first goal--bringing together a broad-based coalition of interests to successfully advocate for the deepening of the Harbor of New York and New Jersey.  The advent of post-Panamax ships--now carrying nearly twice the cargo per ship--into our Port system requires deepening the channels to 50 feet. 
• While we never lose site of our harbor-based challenges, the next hurdle for Nation'sPort is making sure that the land-based infrastructure required to move the nation's cargo can handle what is coming.
• The Port of New York and New Jersey competes with other East Coast ports to provide transportation, storage and value-added services that are demanded by nearly one-third of our nation's population.
• Without coordinated approaches to invest in needed infrastructure and facilities, our region runs the risk of losing business to other ports--costing us thousands of jobs and billions in tax revenue.
